Calm Before the Storm

First of all, I want to say that writing and completing the Novel in the month of November was an epic FAIL!  It was a huge challenge to make time to write as much as I needed to every day.  You fall behind one day and lose motivation and feel overwhelmed to get back on track.  Especially with school and work.  But no worries, it is still my goal to finish it.

Speaking of school, why do they call it "Dead Week"?  It implies that there is going to be a calm right before finals to regroup.  But i beg to debate the opposite.  It should be "Crazy Stress Week".  What with a 5 page research paper due in portuguese and a 10 min presentation to go along with it, and a 4 page ethics paper due this week.  "Dead Week".  Right.....

But I am finding time to enjoy myself.  I have the best roommates (Sam, Alex, and Dan are STUDS!) and some really great friends.  As Thanksgiving came and went, I found myself reflecting and being extremely grateful for each of them.  Not to mention the Aggie Basketball.  With my whiteboard at those games, I tend to come up with my best work. =)

NaNoWriMo Update

So...this whole novel writing thing is risky business.  I have finished my first chapter in which someone has already died (in quite a brutal manner i might say) and i am pleased with my work so far.  At least the quality of my work.  The quantity is lacking...big time!  I should be about half way through by now (25,000 words out of 50,000), but i am sitting proudly on 2,100 words.  Yep, i surely have my work cut out for me and a ton more to do.  But i am enjoying the experience.

In other news, Aggie Basketball is in full swing!!!  I am PUMPED!!!  I am addicted to it like a drug.  And as of now, I am okay with that.  The season kicked off last Saturday night against Weber State.  I waited in line for probably close to 3 hours to get in.  4th row, baby!  That's all i need to say.  After a rocky start and trailing at half time, the Aggies pulled out the victory 77-65.  It was a great way to kick off the season!

October to NaNoWriMo

I have never really understood Halloween.  Sure, as a kid it was great to dress up, walk around and get free candy.  But I've moved on a little bit past that.  Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for the day that I get to see my own kids dress up and go out.  But these days, i'm not quite sure what to do about it all.  So mostly i end up just hanging around and following a small crowd.  It tends to work pretty well.

But this weekend was pretty freaking sweet.  Friday night, I went with Alex and Kaitlin down to Layton to hang out with my friends Mandie, Abe, and Liz.  We had a fire at Mandie's house and Alex and I got into a wrestling match on her tramp (Resulted in a draw...lol).  We then had a late run to Taco Bell, and just hung out for the most part of the night.  Saturday, after i got off work, we carved some pumpkins in the afternoon and then went to the Aggie Basketball game.  I can now say my life is complete!  I had been waiting for that day since about 4 PM on Friday, March 19th when the Aggies failed to move on in the NCAA Tourney.

The pumpkin Alex and I put our heads together to carve...pretty stinking awesome!

BONUS!!  At the game I was offered the chance to participate in a time out activity where i would have a chance to win a free dinner for two at Texas RoadHouse!!  I WON!!!  It was pretty freakin sweet.

After the game (the Aggies smashed that French university from Canada), we went to a party at my neighbor's apartment then watched a movie.  It was chill, but it was a lot of fun.

NOVEMER is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) y'all!  So, I'm joining with my roommate Sam and a bunch of our friends and I am writing a novel!!! I'm pretty stoked about it.  Updates should come periodically throughout the month.  But if anyone has ever had the desire to write a novel, go for it this month!  It's the perfect excuse.

A New Start

Life has been nothing short of a challenge and an adventure over the past few weeks.   A lot of learning, growing, and a lot of fun has been had over that time.  This blog was initially set up for the intent of being a "Professional Blog" for a class.  It is no longer needed for that purpose so I figure I shouldn't let it go to waste.  Thus I am starting anew, and using this blog for those who really think it is important to follow my very interesting (i.e. not so eventful) life.

Although, even with all these changes I went to Zion’s National Park this last week with a few buddies, Alex and Robert.  It was pretty sweet to say the least but mostly it was good to get out of the norm and just hit reset.  I guess that is why they give us Fall Break, which some schools haven’t quite figured out yet (*cough cough* I’m looking at you BYU).  We left early Friday morning and chose to forego our original plan to camp in the park and found a sweet place on some public lands not too far away.  Best part, it was free to camp there.  The Virgin River runs right next to our spot so we enjoyed just chilling around there during the rest of Friday.

Then Saturday we got up and hiked Angel’s Landing.  It was INTENSE!!  It was one of the best hikes I have been on and the views from the top are breathtaking!  Simply, the pictures we took don’t do it justice.  We stopped to eat at this sweet diner on the way out and then drove home Saturday afternoon.  Hopefully someday in the not too distant future I’ll head back down that way to do it again.

Overall, life is an Adventure.  Don't miss a thing.
